This Property represents strong potential for development, and the urgent need to manage resources the sustainable management of natural resources, and the growth of skilled manpower and professional resources. The development potential is clear. With plants in progress to build the new international airport near Sierpe, focus has shifted from development in the northwest, to development along the southwest coast. Roads have been newly paved from Dominical to Sierpe, with new road construction under way from Sierpe, through Rio Sereno  to Drake Bay.

A new hospital is under construction near Cortez, a prerequisite for the new airport. As the area develops, with the influx of international funds, there has been a great increase in tourist as well. But rural Costa Rica still labors under the conditions that services, such as education, environmental protection and resource conservation are sadly lacking. As a result, there is a steady increase in illegal logging and hunting. Local kids, although they learn how to read and write, have very poor prospects for learning professions to support the growth of their communities or economy.

Some percentage of the income from tourism can help support local law enforcement in the neighboring forest, as well. We have also invested in setting an example of sustainable resource management, by building a hydroelectric plant which will provide us with sufficient electricity to run the entire operation. We have come to a point where we have a viable business ready for future expansion, good potential for residential development, good connections in the community and with government officials, a skilled workforce, and a vision for the future.
